About Us

Collegiate Assessment Partners (CAPs) is a company founded by a combination of university professors and corporate human resources executives. We have been offering assessment services since 1995 and have provided feedback to more than 25,000 individuals. Our goal is to partner with universities and colleges to assist you in your measuring assurance of learning goals and managing the accreditation process while providing valuable feedback to your students.

To accomplish the objectives described above, CAPs has put together a collection of people with a wide variety of specializations. We are a collection of professors, executive coaches, leadership researchers, university administrators, and psychometricians. We pool these resources to provide you with innovative and cost effective solutions.

To provide a better idea of our backgrounds, two brief bios are included here:

Dr. Bill Bommer

Bill Bommer holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Indiana University and also Master’s Degree in Organizational Development from Bowling Green State University. He is currently the managing partner of Collegiate Assessment Partners (CAPs). His consulting experience spans a fifteen year period. Bill has conducted leadership programs for senior managers at a variety of organizations, including Centers for Disease Control, Cooper Industries, Promina Healthcare, Eka, Scientific-Atlanta, Inc., SITA, Ockham Technologies, Artex International, and BP-Amoco. In addition, he has developed executive education programs, created in-house training for multiple manufacturing firms across the United States and served as Accenture’s subject matter expert in preparing a financial management training system for BellSouth.

His research has been published in a number of leading academic journals including Journal of Applied Psychology, Academy of Management Journal, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Personnel Psychology, Organization Science, and the Journal of Management. The focus of his research is on transformational leadership behaviors and their effects in the organizational setting.

In terms of assessment experience, the best known of the services he offers is Iliad, an assessment center designed to evaluate managerial skills in both undergraduate and MBA students. Over 25,000 students have participated in Iliad over the past eight years. Clients of these services have included Indiana University, Georgia State University, Kennesaw State University, Cleveland State University, Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, St. Louis University, Lehigh University, DePaul University and Texas Tech University.

Mike Lawrence

Mike Lawrence is an experienced and respected leader in organizational and leadership development. He has extensive experience in building organizational effectiveness, leading teams and driving change by designing pragmatic business solutions. He is an expert facilitator committed to helping leaders and organizations succeed. He has global experience in strategic planning, training and development, leadership assessment and development, coaching and talent management.

Building on his experience working for two Fortune 50 corporations, Mike is now partner of business development for Collegiate Assessment Partners (CAPs). His work centers on helping individuals and organizations achieve breakthrough results and thrive on change by building on what is already working. One specific area of expertise that Mike brings to the table is executive-level coaching experience. Over the past 20 years, he has been personally involved in the coaching and development of numerous top-level executives.

In 14 years as an executive with BP plc, Mike worked in a variety of international leadership positions. His last position with BP was Director of Learning & Development. He has also served in senior roles dealing with executive development, talent management, strategic planning and change management.

Prior to joining BP, Mike spent seven years with Exxon-Mobil where he held various leadership positions in the US Refining and Marketing organization. His experience in Exxon-Mobil included roles in sales leadership, change management, training and business development.

Mike has extensive experience leading and working with international teams. He and his family have lived in every region of the United States and in Europe. He has worked in many diverse parts of the world, including countries such as Singapore, South Africa, Germany, France, Japan, Portugal, China, Scotland and Mexico.

Mike holds a master’s of science in Organizational Behavior from the J Mack Robinson College of Business Administration at Georgia State University and a bachelor’s of science in economics from the University of Delaware.
